The children are divided into classes of mixed ability according to age and
are taught by a class teacher who has overall responsibility for their well
being. At some stage in Key Stage Two Maths and English are taught to
groups of children having similar ability. The Headteacher is involved in this
teaching so that the groups are very small. Able children are catered for in
higher ability sets for Maths and English. Additional help is available in the
classroom from a support teacher or teaching assistant. Work is finely tuned
to all abilities and we have an excellent record of high standards from all
abilities. There is an additional teacher or teaching assistant at some time in every class.
When children start school they are organised into two small classes of 22 or 23 pupils with
a teacher and teaching assistant.
